Travel information & Visas

International flights arrive directly to Carrasco International Airport located 45 minutes outside the center of the city. The University can hire a reliable taxi service to pick you up at the airport upon request.

Another option is to fly into Buenos Aires and take the boat across the River Plate to Montevideo. Different ferry companies offer a bus-boat service between Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

The University is fifteen minutes away from Tres Cruces Bus Terminal where all long-distance coaches and buses serve many destinations in South America daily.

Before traveling, visit the Oficina Nacional de Migración website to see if you need a visa to enter Uruguay. Contact the Uruguayan Embassy before traveling if your country is not on the list of excepted countries.

Citizens from countries that do not need an entry visa may enter Uruguay on a three-month tourist visa. This type of visa is issued upon arrival at the airport and is renewable for 90 days. You can extend your stay at https://www.gub.uy/tramites/prorroga-permanencia-temporaria.
