School of Business and Economics students Lucía Rodríguez, Martina Gutiérrez and Agustín Barboza, and Pedro Bocking, from the School of Engineering, were selected by the Canadian government for the Emerging Leader in the Americas Program (ELAP). Thanks to this scholarship, Business and Economics students will travel to Canada to study at Queen's University. On the other hand, the UM Engineering student will go to the University of Ottawa.
This scholarship is intended to offer young people from Latin America and the Caribbean the opportunity to travel to Canada to study at one of its educational institutions or to carry out a research project. The Canadian government has offered the grant since 2009 with the objective of contributing to the academic and professional development of the next leaders of America. Each year, 400 students out of a total of 4,000 applications are selected.
