Starting in 2020, the UM School of Business and Economics professor and researcher, Ana Balsa, will be part of the editorial committee of the Journal of Health Economics, the leading international academic publication in the field of Health Economics.
"Being part of this editorial committee means being in constant contact with the most important research that is being done in my discipline and, eventually, it can contribute to the definition of directions for the field of study," said Balsa. "I feel very grateful for the recognition, for the great responsibility and challenge that it implies. I hope to be up to the task," she added.
Ana Inés Balsa holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University (USA) and a degree in Economics from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay). At UM, she is a professor and researcher at the School of Business and Economics. She teaches courses in the area of Microeconomics in undergraduate and postgraduate careers of her School and is a professor in the area of Health Economics in the UM Master's Degree in Health Business Management. She is also a researcher at the Center for Applied Research: family, education and poverty at the UM and responsible for the Economics seminars of the School. She has participated in several researches funded by The National Institute of Health (USA) and the Inter-American Development Bank. Among her most recognized work, her experience in the Center for Multicultural Mental Health Research (Harvard Medical School) and with the Health Economics Research Group of Miami University stands out.
