In addition to getting second place in the competition, the team of students from the School of Law of Montevideo had the best answer in response to the lawsuit. This document was published in the Revista latinoamericana de Arbitraje (the Latin American Magazine of Arbitration). University students from different countries participated in the Third International Business Arbitration Competition. They analyzed a case that dealt with the business and trade field. Each group had to defend the interests of a hypothetical client in front of an arbitration court. They had to apply the procedure rules of the Inter-American Commission of Business Arbitration CIAC (Comisión Interamericana de Arbitraje Comerciales) and the Principles of UNIDROIT dealing with International Business Contracts. Eighteen UM Law students wrote a winning essay for the written part of the competition. The group was coached by Dr. Mercedes Jiménez de Aréchaga y Margarita De Hegedus. For the hearing, seven students from the UM group travelled to the University of Rosario (Bogotá, Colombia), where each team had the opportunity to represent an actor in the case. Check memory demand.
