On June 6, 2018, the results of the QS World University Rankings, one of the leading international rating agencies of universities, were announced. The ranking positioned UM as the leading institution in Uruguay. Amid other indicators, the UM stands out for the number of international professors.
Furthermore, the QS Top 50 under 50 2019 edition, that qualifies young universities in the world with less than 50 years of experience, ranked the Universidad de Montevideo as the 4th best ranked Latin American institution in that category. It should be noted that only 150 universities - founded after 1968 - managed to enter the ranking.
The university that leads the 2019 ranking of QS Top 50 Under 50 is NTU Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, with which the UM has an academic cooperation agreement since 2014. It also includes UTS University of Technology in Sydney, partner of the UM since 2016. In Latin America, the UM has agreements with the Universidad Austral, which leads the list of Latin American universities, and with the Universidad de San Andrés and the Universidad Torcuato di Tella.
