In 2016, Javier Bianchi was awarded the Morosoli Award in the category Economics. The Foundation recognizes the work of personalities and institutions that have played an important role in the Uruguayan culture.
Javier Bianchi graduated from the School of Business & Economics of the UM and did his PhD in Economics at the University of Maryland. He lives in the United States with his wife, whom he met at the UM, and their three children.
When he finished his PhD, he was first appointed researcher and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Today he is Senior Research Economist in the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. He has been member of the National Bureau of Economic Research for six years.
