UM Academic Collaboration
MERCOSUR Mobility Program (PMM)
The MERCOSUR Mobility Program (PMM) is a project of the MERCOSUR Education Sector, jointly financed by MERCOSUR and the European Union that seeks to promote a greater regional MERCOSUR identity within the members of the university community. More specifically, the program works to promote student mobility at the undergraduate level with the MERCOSUR region. Among the participants are selected public and private universities and the Ministries of Education in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. UM participated in professional development conferences and is part of the Interuniversity Courses, led by the National University of Argentina at San Juan (UNSJ)
Alfa Bridges Research Project
UM participated in a study by the Montevideo Association of Universities (AUGM) financed by the European Commission. The regional study, collected from university leaders and professors, compares how universities deal with the processes of service-learning, mobility, research, internationalization, quality assurance, and University management. In Uruguay, the Universidad de Montevideo participated as well as the Universidad de la República and the Universidad Católica del Uruguay.
Inter-University Cooperation Projects, Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID)

Institutional Affliations
The Universidad de Montevideo is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU). The IAU, founded in 1950, is the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions. It brings together institutions and organizations from some 120 countries for reflection and action on common concerns and collaborates with various international, regional and national bodies active in higher education.
Research at UM
UM seeks to pursue interdisciplinary research to understand the national reality, culture, and values of Uruguay. Our research aims to make an impact on society and to contribute to the country's development by strengthening people, families, and the society at large. Research at UM is fundamentally a collaborative process, involving students and professors, as wells as other academic centers, institutions, and universities.
